Improving Lives and Livelihoods

Improving Lives and Livelihoods is an inspiring student-led initiative launched in July 2010 under the name ‘Sambandh,’ which translates to ‘Relationship.’ This meaningful program is rooted in fostering connections between school students from rural areas and those attending JSB Campus. Each year, JSBians warmly welcome these students to their campus for a day filled with enriching activities and learning experiences. The primary goals and activities of this initiative include:

  1. Teaching English: Recognizing the universal importance of English, JSBians dedicate time to impart language skills, helping rural students enhance their communication abilities and confidence.
  2. Conducting Drawing Workshops: Artistic expression is encouraged through drawing workshops. These sessions not only nurture creativity but also provide a platform for self-expression and talent development.
  3. Conducting Sports Events: Sports events are organized to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy competition. These activities foster a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship among students.
  4. Gifting Books for School Libraries: In an effort to support ongoing education and literacy, JSBians donate books to rural school libraries. This gesture not only enriches the library’s resources but also sparks curiosity and a love for reading among students.

In addition to these core activities, JSB is deeply involved in various social events aimed at further contributing to community welfare. These include:

  • Blood Donation Camps: Organizing blood donation camps to aid in critical healthcare needs and raise awareness about the importance of blood donation.
  • Skill Building Workshops for School Students: Offering workshops focused on skill development to equip students with practical abilities and knowledge that can enhance their future career prospects.
  • Digital Educational Initiatives: Embracing the digital era, JSB implements educational initiatives that leverage technology for learning, thereby expanding access and opportunities for students in rural areas.

Overall, the Improving Lives and Livelihoods initiative by JSB stands as a testament to the power of education, community engagement, and social responsibility. Through these diverse activities, JSBians are not only enriching the lives of rural students but also setting a commendable example of how educational institutions can play a pivotal role in societal development and empowerment.
